Sunday, September 6 – Mission Moment - World Literacy Day (September 8)
In Afghanistan, cultural norms dictate that men often play a more central role in public life, while women and girls have more significant roles in the home. Because of this, many girls do not have equal access to education. Presbyterian World Service & Development (PWS&D), with the support of local partners, has been working to provide girls with access to high quality education. Through summer camps, girls are informed about human rights, gender, sex, and leadership and democracy. Sadaf and Nargi participated in this summer camp, where they were inspired and excited about the great things they could achieve in the future. For the two girls, access to fair and equal education is vital for their goals and dreams; it is also essential to allow their communities to flourish. PWS&D supports equal education

Sunday, Sept. 13 – Mission Moment - New Beginnings and Evangelism Coaches - The Apostle Paul, in his pursuit of sharing the gospel message, says that in doing so he is “forgetting what lies behind and straining forward to what lies ahead” (Philippians 3:13). Looking ahead is not always an easy thing to do, especially in the rapidly changing environment that we live in today. For congregations, it can be a struggle to know how to continue to reach out to their communities and share the gospel in meaningful ways. The PCC has developed a network of coaches to help congregations and ministries to discover where God is calling them. Through programs like New Beginnings and the Evangelism Network, congregations can be connected with a coach to guide them into an exciting new era of ministry. Contact Canadian Ministries to learn more about the New Beginnings program and the Evangelism Network. Presbyterians Sharing shares the gospel message

Sunday, September 20 – Mission Moment - International Day of Prayer for Peace (September 21) - Today, there are millions of people around the world living in conflict-affected countries. Many have been displaced from their homes and have limited access to basic needs. Children are unable to go to school. Families do not have enough food to eat. There is no telling when home might be safe again. Presbyterian World Service & Development (PWS&D) continuously provides emergency relief in conflict-affected areas. By reaching out to the most vulnerable to address immediate needs such as food, shelter, and water and sanitation, as well as long-term needs, such as livelihood recovery, education and psychosocial support, we help to restore strength and hope for the future for the world's most vulnerable. PWS&D responds to conflict
